What ever will we do without LimeWire?

Personally, I haven’t used a file-sharing program since 8th grade, and I only did that for about a year.  In fact, it was the year that I was reading angsty young-adult novels.  Anyway…

By court order, LimeWire will be shutting down its software indefinetly and end the sharing of unauthorized music files, according to the Wall Street Journal (the article is available HERE, but if you’re too lazy to read too much, you can go to newser.com and get the story in one paragraph).

I’m about to make myself sound really out of touch, but are people really still downloading programs to get music?  I’m kind of an exception to the rules, that much I understand.  I still enjoy buying CDs at Borders and Barnes & Noble, FYE and other niche music stores.  Sometimes I find myself buying singles on itunes when I “must” have it right then and there, but other times I do a simple search and I’ve got it!

Artist’s ‘Song Title’ Free mp3 download.”  That’s the search I do, and boom!  I have it.  But are people really “outraged” about LimeWire getting the axe?  Do you have an alternative, did you even bother downloading music in the first place?
